April 11, 2021

Dear friends and families of KCMC,

On Monday, April 6 our landlord informed us that we can no longer use our space at 69 Island Street, and that we must vacate by June 30, 2021.

Keene Related LLC.—based in Brooklyn, NY—bought the 69 Island Street property in early 2020, and has given another business at this complex the rights to our space for an upcoming expansion of their operations.

This is difficult and unexpected news. However, the KCMC board of directors is fully committed to ensuring the music center continues its mission, and we are in the process of searching for a new space for our community of musicians. As of writing this, we do not have a home yet.

How You Can Help KCMC

This news affects every one of us: students, teachers, families, and supporters all have a stake in Keene Community Music Center, and now is an opportunity for our music community to come together, pool resources, and help each other out! We’re sure you’ll agree that two and a half months is not very much time.

This is why we’re asking if any of you know know of any spaces (listed or unlisted) available for lease, or if you have any contacts in real estate, to please contact us:

  • We are looking for approx. 1,000 to 1,500 square feet, with 4 to 6 rooms for individual lessons and small groups.
  • If you know of any businesses who are looking for office space and would consider sharing occupancy
  • If you have any ideas, input, and insight into alternative arrangements for KCMC

Please contact KCMC at kcmcoffice@gmail, or call (603) 352-6011

We understand that not all of you will know of any spaces for lease or have real estate contacts, but we still need you help!

If you would like to volunteer your help in any way we want to hear from you

  • We would love your help to get the word out in the community that KCMC is looking for a new home.
  • When we do secure a new space we might need help moving our stuff.
  • Whatever you can do to help is greatly appreciated!

Please contact KCMC at kcmcoffice@gmail, or call (603) 352-6011

We hope you will see this bump in the road as an opportunity to get more involved with KCMC. Now more than ever, Keene needs a place where we can make music together. We need your help!

This is a close and caring community, and each of you have a unique talent which can help KCMC move forward from this. Thank you for sticking with us!

With deep gratitude,

Keene Community Music Center Board of Directors
