Katharine Q. Bednar loves to foster
enthusiasm for creating personal beauty in
sound. With an avid love for music and a
natural flair for teaching, she has a special gift
for working with very young children as well
as the challenged learner; and Mrs. Bednar
welcomes students of all ages and abilities.
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Education from Old Dominion University and
has maintained her lifelong study of music
through additional college courses, private
study and Suzuki training. She has studied
under such notable teachers as Elan Sikroff,
Gustav Ferri, Robert Fraley and George
Loring.

Mrs. Bednar is well acquainted with the
philosophy founded by Dr. Suzuki ; she was
among the first proponents of the Japan-
based method when it first came to this
country in the early 70’s. Having spent the
last thirty years teaching and promoting
Suzuki Talent Education*, Mrs. Bednar also
serves as accompanist for musical
presentations, lectures on the Benefits of
Early Music Study and How to Succeed at
Practicing and remains active in local
community charities. She teaches privately
out of both her studio in Richmond, NH, and
the Keene Community Music Center in
downtown Keene. Mrs. Bednar may be
reached at (603) 239-8044 or (603) 352-
6011.
*All children learn to speak their own language with relative ease, and if the same natural learning process is applied in teaching other skills, these can be acquired as
successfully. Dr. Suzuki referred to the process as the Mother Tongue Method and to his whole system of pedagogy as Talent Education.
